THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

➢ Opinions of relevant NGOs were listened at the workshop on the inhuman
pushbacks that took place on the Türkiye-Greece border on 23 February 2022. In
addition, Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç attended the Antalya Diplomacy
Forum held on 12 March 2022 and held meetings about the inhumane pushbacks
on the Greek border.
➢ The Ombudsman Institution participated in the “Human Rights Institutions
Evaluation Meeting” held on June 9 under the chairmanship of Minister of
Justice Mr. Bekir Bozdağ.
➢ Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye attended as a speaker to the “Global Parliamentary
Migration Conference” organized jointly with the Grand National Assembly of
Türkiye and the Inter-Parliamentary Union on June 20.

➢ The Ombudsman Institution visited the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB)
on 27 July 2022 and met with the President of the TBB, Mr. Erinç Sağkan, and
consulted on the ways to seek legal remedies in the Constitution and laws, and
their functioning.
➢ On 20 September 2022, a meeting was held with Deputy Minister of Interior Mr.
Mehmet Ersoy at the Ombudsman Institution to discuss the implementation of
the activities included in article 1.2.f of the Human Rights Action Plan prepared
by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.
G. RELATIONS WITH NGOs

Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye, Ombudsmen and Experts held regular meetings and
exchanged views with NGOs and professional organizations such as Confederation of
Turkish Trade Unions (TÜRK-İŞ), Confederation of Turkish Real Trade Unions (HAK-
İŞ), Confederation of Public Servants Trade Unions (MEMUR-SEN), Confederation
of Revolutionary Trade Unions of Türkiye (DİSK), and Confederation of Public
Employees’ Trade Unions (KESK), Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges
of Türkiye (TOBB), Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Union of Municipalities of
Türkiye.
In order to spread the culture of seeking legal remedies, the Ombudsman Institution
held meetings with TÜRK-İŞ, HAK-İŞ, MEMUR-SEN, KAMUSEN, KESK, DİSK
and local NGO representatives, 30 in each, 600 in total, at the provincial meetings
held in the provinces of Düzce, Şırnak, Siirt, Batman, Diyarbakır, Samsun, Mardin,
Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, and the Ombudsman Institution also met with the
representatives of the bar associations and chambers in the province.
