H. RELATIONS WITH THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF
TÜRKIYE (GNAT)

Under the auspices of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT)
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, a consultation meeting was held with the heads of the
institutions for seeking legal remedies in Türkiye on 19 January 2022.
➢ 2021 Annual Report, which includes the activities carried out by the Ombudsman
Institution, information and evaluations regarding applications, statistics,
relations with citizens, public institutions and organizations, NGOs and the
GNAT, and contributions to the administrative system of Türkiye in 2021, has
been submitted to the Joint Commission, which consists of the members of the
Petition Commission and the Human Rights Inquiry Commission of the GNAT.
➢ Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç made a presentation on the 2021 Annual
Report to the Joint Commission, on 16 February 2022.
➢ The Joint Commission held its first meeting on 23 February 2022. Within the
scope of the Ombudsman Institution’s 2021 Annual Report, the Ombudsmen
made their presentations regarding their fields of activity in front of the Joint
Commission.
➢ A consultation meeting was held at the Ombudsman Institution on 16 March
2022, with the Members of the Joint Commission.
➢ On 23-24 March 2022, the Joint Commission convened with the agenda of
hearing the representatives of institutions with a high compliance rate with the
Recommendations issued by the Ombudsman Institution and the representatives
of the institutions who do not/cannot comply with the Recommendations or
who do not respond positively to the requested information and documents of
the Ombudsman Institution.
➢ On 30 March 2022, at the meeting of the Joint Commission, representatives of
institutions that do not/cannot comply with the Recommendations issued by the
Ombudsman Institution, or who do not respond positively to the information
and document requests of the Ombudsman Institution were listened. In
addition, plaques were presented to the representatives of institutions with a high
compliance rate with the recommendations.
➢ Together with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr.
Mustafa Şentop, Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç and Ombudsman Ms.
Özlem Tunçak attended the opening of the “Parliamentary Garden, Children’s
Garden” program on 20 April 2022.
➢ Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç participated in the July 15 Democracy and
National Unity Day Commemoration Program held in the GNAT under the
chairmanship of Speaker of the GNAT, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop.
