THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

➢ Students from Medipol University Faculty of Law on April 8, Kırklareli University
on May 20, Bursa Uludağ University on May 23, Afyon Kocatepe University
on May 27 and Malatya İnönü and Istanbul Yeditepe University students on
December 2 visited the Ombudsman Institution.
C. ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

➢ Ombudsman Institution is the only institution in Türkiye that receives applications
directly from children without the need for parental approval or permission.

➢ In cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, in order to raise the
awareness of seeking legal remedies among primary and secondary school
students, the subject of “Ombudsman” which is included in the fourth grade has
also been included in the curricula of the seventh and ninth grades.

➢ With the participation of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the
following trainings were organized for children and youth:
− In-service training at the Ombudsman Institution on the national and
international protection of unaccompanied children,
− On 3-5 February 2022, within the framework of the “Ombudsman
Institution and Child Rights” training program, in Eskişehir and on
February 28, “Peer Education Training” for Ombudsman Club Students,
− “Ombudsman Institution and Children’s Rights” training for bar
association lawyers in Manisa on January 26, in Tekirdağ on February 25
and in Manisa on March 24,
− Trainings on “children’s rights, seeking legal remedies and lodging an
application to the Ombudsman Institution” on June 9-12, in the three-
day program, which ended with the Ombudsman Institution Children’s
Festival in Eskişehir.
➢ On March 29 and April 4, a presentation of “Ombudsman Institution and
Children’s Rights” was held for the graduate student teachers.
➢ On April 12, the Ombudsman Institution came together with the children

who are members of the 26 Term Children’s Council of Ankara Metropolitan
Municipality.
➢ The Ombudsman Institution visited Sofuoğlu Elementary School on the occasion
of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day and had a conversation with
the students about ombudsman.
➢ On September 30, the Ombudsman Institution participated in the 2023-
2028 Türkiye Child Rights Strategy Document and Action Plan Workshop of
the Ministry of Family and Social Services within the scope of protection and
promotion of children’s rights at the national level.
