Report on the Study Visit Conducted to Hungary Related to Ukrainian Refugees By the Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye
We also observed that there are stands belonging to different institutions
at the aforementioned sports hall, which has been converted into a
reception centre, and that the stands serve as temporary representations
and provide necessary guidance to people. Since people come by public
transport, they enter the centre in groups. Those who come to the
centre can quickly enter there as the necessary registration procedures
have already been completed at the border. Internet service is available.
There is a resting area where people can eat. There are also separate
sleeping quarters for men and women for those who need short-term
accommodation, but families can stay together. There is a separate indoor
playground for children and a separate area for those with pets. Military
high school students also work at the centre, as observed by our party. In
addition, the information desk serving as the temporary regional office,
which has been opened recently by the Ombudsman’s Office of Hungary,
was also visited at the sports hall. In the interview with the employees of
the Ombudsman’s Office, it was stated that they work in 3-day shifts and
that they can get support by calling the headquarters when necessary.
It was informed that as the Ombudsman’s Office, they have prepared
brochures in 3 different languages containing important information. It
