THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

We visited İzmir Repatriation Center, Aydın Repatriation Center, Akyurt Repatriation
Center together with our Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç and our Experts from
the Ombudsman Institution. We held meetings with relevant institutions and with
non-governmental organizations. We prepared “The Special Report on Pushbacks
in the Aegean Sea and ‘Pushback’ of Human Rights” in 2022, as a result of a work
that lasted for about a year with the dedication of our experts, and announced our
report to the public with the “Human Rights Drowning in the Aegean” program
held at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye on 16.06.2022, in which the Speaker
of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and the representative of the UN High
Commissioner for Refugees of Türkiye were present, and we sent the summary report
translated into English to the relevant institutions.

The Ombudsman Institution, which has an important role in resolving the conflicts
that arise between the administrations and individuals, will continue to play an even
more active role with its decisions and special reports in the resolution of the disputes
of the individual with the administration. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank all individuals and organizations that contributed to the development of human
rights and to solve the problems of citizens, and I hope our 2022 Annual Report to
               be beneficial for our country.
