9.2.3 RELATIONS WITH INTERNATIONAL OMBUDSMAN NETWORKS

Activities within the Scope of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
Ombudsman Association

The Ombudsman Institution carries out the Presidency of the Organization of Islamic
Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA).
Within the scope of OICOA, online training activities and overseas visits were
organized. The General Assembly, which could not be held last year due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, was held this year in Baku, Azerbaijan. The activities of OICOA
are listed below;
• On 22 February 2022, OICOA Board of Directors meeting was held under the
chairmanship of Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç.
• On 29-30 March 2022, the first physical
meeting of the OICOA Board of Directors was
held in Rabat, Morocco. Chief Ombudsman
Mr. Şeref Malkoç attended the meeting and was
accompanied by Head of the EU and Foreign
Relations Department Ms. Güniz Ateş and Chief
of Cabinet Mr. Veysel Şirin.
• On 6 April 2022, an online meeting was held between Chief Ombudsman Mr.
Şeref Malkoç and President of the General Inspection Organization of the Islamic
Republic of Iran Dr. Zabihullah Khodaeian.
• On 28 April 2022, a training on “Protection of the right to access to information:
Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s experience” was given by the Office of the Commissioner
for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the scope of
OICOA training activities.
• OICOA General Assembly Meeting was held on 18 October 2022, hosted by the
Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
