THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE



                       Following the visits, a report is planned to be prepared that will draw attention
                       to the discriminatory practices and court decisions, especially regarding the anti-
                       Muslim legislation in that country.

                    ❖  With the aim of developing human rights awareness in the society and among
                       public  officials, protecting human rights, examining and investigating allegations
                       of violations and making suggestions regarding the solution of the causes that
                       lead to the violation of rights, it has been determined with the 1.2.f. activity of
                       the Human Rights Action Plan to increase the effectiveness of the Provincial and
                       District Human Rights Boards, which have an important place in the human
                       rights protection system of Türkiye. In order to implement the aforementioned
                       activity, the Ombudsman Institution cooperates with the Ministry of Interior.
                       In this context, trainings are planned to be provided to Provincial and District
                       Human Rights Board members and organize symposiums, workshops and
                       regional programs in cooperation with the Ministry in order to reach higher
                       standards of public services and to strengthen the understanding of the rule of
                       law based on human rights.

                    ❖  On 6 October 2022, the Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO)
                       delegation was accepted at the Ombudsman Institution, and detailed discussions
                       were held on the prevention of corruption and promoting honesty in law
                       enforcement units during the visit of the delegation to Türkiye within the scope
                       of the 5  Evaluation Phase. GRECO was established in 1999 within the Council
                             th
                       of Europe and it operates to evaluate the compliance of the Council members
                       with the anti-corruption standards and to help them increase their capacity in
                       this way.

                    ❖  As a phase of the Second Cycle Review Process within the scope of the United
                       Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), the "On-Site Investigation
                       Visit" (1 November 2022) organized by the UNODC Secretariat for the purpose
                       of observing the practice of Türkiye on site, and on 01-03 November 2022,
                       the delegation was informed about the works carried out by the Ombudsman
                       Institution.
