               Report on the Study Visit Conducted to Hungary Related to Ukrainian
               Refugees by the Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye
                                             As of 24 February 2022, a military operation was

                                             12 May 2022, 3,763,211 Syrians are under
               temporary protection in Türkiye, and Türkiye is the country that hosts the highest

               number of refugees in the world.
               After the tragedy experienced in Ukraine as millions of Ukrainians took refuge in
               neighboring countries as a result of Russia's attacks, on 15 March 2022, the Ombudsman
               Institution of Türkiye sent letters to the Ombudsmen of Poland, Hungary, Romania,
               Moldova,  Slovenia  and  Slovakia,  which  are  neighbors  of  Ukraine  and  which  have
               experienced the most refugee influx. In these letters, it is stated that the Ombudsman
               Institution is always ready and pleased to share its experiences. Following the letters,
               Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç had an online meeting with Commissioner for
               Fundamental Rights (Ombudsman) of Hungary Dr. Akos Kozma. In this meeting, Dr.
               Kozma conveyed current information and experiences regarding Ukrainian refugees
               and invited the Chief Ombudsman to Hungary for an on-site visit. By the mentioned
               report, it was aimed to share the information and findings obtained as a result of the
               study visit.
               6.4   HUMAN RIGHTS MONITORING ACTIVITIES


               Being a human rights institution, the Ombudsman Institution is responsible
               for monitoring national and international human rights violations, analyzing the
               developments in the field of human rights, monitoring the Council of Europe, the
               European Court of Human Rights, the United Nations and other relevant international
               human rights institutions and organizations, cooperating and coordinating in the field
               of human rights with public institutions and organizations such as the Presidency of
               Türkiye, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Presidency for Turks Abroad
