THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

Representative to the Council of Europe, Venice Commission of the Council
of Europe, European Commission against Racism and Intolerance, European
Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment
or Punishment, General Directorate of Human Rights Rule of Law and Special
Representative on Migration and Refugees of Council of Europe were visited and
information was exchanged.

• On 25-29 July 2022, Secretary General Mr.
Mehmet Sarı, Experts Ms. Merve Üstün Mete and
Ms. Nurten Günel Civri, and Judge Ms. Ayşe
Alperen, as well as Ms. Şefkat Utsükarçi Tulun
from the Directorate for EU Affairs, went to
Bucharest / Romania for a study visit. The
delegation visited People’s Advocate (Ombudsman)
of Romania Ms. Renate Weber, President of the
Romanian National Council for Combating
Discrimination Anti-Discrimination Mr. Csaba Ferenc Asztalos, Romanian
Association for Human Rights Protection Group (GRADO) and exchanged views.
The Ombudsman Institution delegation also visited the ECHR Government Office
and received information about the Government Office's relations with the
European Union and their work. Meetings were also held with the administration
of the Turkish Businessmen Association (TİAD) in Romania and the Bucharest
Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery was visited.
• On 5-9 September 2022, Chief Ombudsman
Mr. Şeref Malkoç and his accompanying
delegation paid a study visit to Belgium.
Ombudsman Experts Mr. Yasin Varol, Mr.
Umut Barış Tek and Mr. Akif Subaşı took part
in the delegation. Within the scope of his
contacts in Brussels, Mr. Malkoç had meetings
with EU Commission Director General for
Justice and Consumers Ms. Ana Gallego, EU
Commission Director General for Migration and Home Affairs Ms. Monique
Pariat, European Parliament Rapporteur for Türkiye Mr. Nacho Sanchez Amor and
