THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

➢ Chief Ombudsman Paid a Visit to Balkan Countries (30 June-04 July 2021)
Chief Ombudsman Mr. Malkoç paid a visit to Balkan countries including Albania,
Kosovo and North Macedonia on 30 June-04 July 2021.

During the visit, Chief Ombudsman came together with the Ombudsmen of the above-
mentioned countries and discussed the possibilities to further strengthen cooperation
between Ombudsmen and about the establishment of Ombudsman Association of
Balkan Countries. In this regard, Chief Ombudsman had meetings with Albanian
Ombudsman, Ms. Erinda Ballanca, Ombudsman of Kosovo, Mr. Naim Qelaj, the
President of Constitutional Court of Kosovo, Ms. Gresa Caka-Nimani, the Chair of the
Commission on Human Right of Kosovo Parliament, Ms. Duda Balje, Ombudsman of
N. Macedonia Mr, Naser Ziberi as well as the represantatives of the Turkish Embassy
in those countries.
➢ Visit to Bulgaria (July 2021)
On 29-30 July 2021, the Chief Ombudsman
and his Delegation paid an official visit
to the Commission for Protection
against Discrimination of Bulgaria upon
their invitation within the scope of the
memorandum of understanding signed
between both institutions.

During the visit, Chief Ombudsman and his Delegation visited the Chair of
Commission for Protection against Discrimination of Bulgaria, Ms. Ana Dzhumalieva
at her office. The Commission made a presentation about its activities. During the
meeting, the mutual training activities planned to be conducted for the staff of both
institutions were also discussed.
Chief Ombudsman also had meetings with Minister of Justice of Bulgaria, Mr. Yanaki
Stoilov, the President of the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria, Mr. Boris Velchev,
Chairman of the Bulgarian Supreme Administrative Court, Mr. Georgi Cholakov,
Rector of University of National and World Economy, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the
Turkish Ambassador in Sofia as well as the Chief Mufti, Mr. Mustafa Hadji. He also
came together with the governor of Kırcaali, Mr. Daniel Delchev and the Mayor of
Kırcaali, Mr. Hasan Azis.
