THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE




               Project on Improving the Effectiveness of the Administrative Judiciary and
               Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Council of State in Türkiye





















               The final beneficiary of the “Project on Improving the Effectiveness of the
               Administrative Judiciary and Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the
               Council of State” implemented by the Council of Europe is the Ministry of Justice
               while one  of the target groups is the Ombudsman  Institution. The project aims at
               fostering public confidence  in the administrative judiciary by further strengthening
               its independence, impartiality and effectiveness, and increasing public awareness.

               The Ombudsman Institution
               attends the Steering committee
               meetings and activities of the
               Project.  Within the Project,
               in 2021, four consultation
               meetings   were   held   on
               strengthening the role of the
               Ombudsman Institution.

               Within the scope of this project,
               four different reports were
               published. Firstly, the report on “Protection, Promotion and Development of the
               Ombudsman Institution” prepared by the Council of Europe in September 2019 was
               translated into Turkish and published. The second published report is a comparative
               report on European Standards and Practices. The third report is Recommendations of
               Action for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye while the
               fourth and the last report is Guidelines for the Ombudsman and Public Authorities.
