THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

Ø On 27 January 2022, the Ombudsman Institution participated the Advisory
Board Meeting of the United Nations Women Program Office in Türkiye.

Ø The first group of the in-depth training program aimed at increasing knowledge
on gender responsive budgeting for expert level public officials working in public
institutions at the national level within the scope of “Implementing Gender-
Responsive Planning and Budgeting in Türkiye”, funded by the European Union
and the United Nations, where the General Directorate of the Status of Women
of the Ministry of Family and Social Services is the beneficiary and the Presidency
of Strategy and Budget of Türkiye (SBP) is the co-beneficiary institution, carried
out by the United Nations Women’s Unit, was held in Istanbul on 7-8-9 June
2022, and the second group in Trabzon on 14-15-16 June 2022.

Ø The Ombudsman Institution participated in the “Women’s Rights Symposium”
of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye on 9 March 2022.
In the Symposium, expert guests, who have studies on women’s rights, made
presentations in the sessions titled “Discrimination Against Women”, “The
Obligations of the State in Protecting Women’s Rights”, “ Women in Criminal
Law and Penal Execution System Practices”, “Women in Business Life” and
“Women in the Digital World and Different Dimensions of Women’s Rights”.

Ø The Ombudsman Institution participated in the Online Panel of the United
Nations Women’s Unit and the Spanish Equality Institution.
Ø The Ombudsman Institution participated in the “Policy Dialogue Series on
Social Labor and Social Economy in the Post-COVID-19 Period” Events.

Ø The Ombudsman Institution participated in the meeting “Inter-Generation
Dialogue on Gender Equality from Today for Sustainable Futures” organized by
the United Nations Office in Türkiye held on 16 March 2022.
Ø A training program on “Women’s Rights” was held on 10-11-12 August 2022
within the scope of the “Technical Assistance for Empowerment of the Role of
Ombudsman in the Protection of Human Rights”.

Ø On 14-15-16 September 2022, the Ombudsman Institution participated in the
Training Program on “International Human Rights Protection Mechanisms to
which Türkiye is a party”.

Ø As the representative of the Ombudsman Institution, Ombudsman Ms. Özlem
Tunçak, responsible for women’s rights and child rights, participated in the
