THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

Women (CEDAW), within the scope of the Dialogue with Representatives of
National Human Rights Institutions and Civil Society, held in Geneva on 13
June 2022. Ms. Tunçak made a presentation about the studies and activities
carried out by the Ombudsman Institution regarding the fight against violence
and discrimination against women.
Ø UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, Ms. Reem Alsalem visited
the Ombudsman Institution.

Ø Rapporteur of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Ms. Zita Gurmai and the
accompanying delegation visited the Ombudsman Institution on 7 June 2022.
Ø On 24 October 2022, within the framework of the joint European Union/
Council of Europe program “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans
and Türkiye 2019-2022”, the Ombudsman Institution participated in the
International Seminar on “Measuring and Monitoring Women’s Access to
Justice” within the scope of the Project on “Fostering Women’s Access to Justice
in Türkiye”.

Ø On 3 November 2022, the Ombudsman Institution conducted investigations
at the Diyarbakır Penal Institution Campuses. Ombudsman Ms. C. Özlem
Tunçak, Ombudsman Mr. Yahya Akman, and Ombudsman Institution experts
Mr. Volkan Tufan, Ms. Mehtap Küçükbaşak and Ms. Ayşe Deniz Aygün
attended the investigations.

Ø Ombudsman Ms. Özlem Tunçak participated in the November 25 International
Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women Program organized by the
Ministry of Family and Social Services under the auspices of the President of
Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Ø Ombudsman Ms. Özlem Tunçak, responsible for women’s rights and child
th
rights, attended the 2022 Meeting of 16 Committee on Violence against
Women organized by the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
