Visits to Repatriation Centers in the cities of İzmir and Aydın (18-19 November)
With an aim to examine the problems of
the migrants and physical and psychological
violence they face, Chief Ombudsman and his
Delegation paid a visit to Aydın and İzmir on
18-19 November 2021.
Visiting the Repatriation Centers located in
İzmir and Aydın, the Delegation listened to the
victims who were pushed back by the Greek
security forces and were subjected to inhumane
treatments, which were against human rights.
Reading the minutes about the irregular migrants
who were treated badly by the Greek security
forces, and listening to the migrants, Chief
Ombudsman Malkoç stated that the assault
and battery marks on the victims were creepy
and frightening. He added
that these are violations of
human rights, and violations
of 13 fundamental rights
were detected. He also added
that these unfair treatments
are against 19 international
conventions.

National Ombudsmanship Symposium on Culture of Seeking Legal Remedies of
Youth (21 December)

Within the Project on Empowerment of the Role of Ombudsman in the Protection and
Promotion of Human Rights jointly run by the Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye
and the European Union, a National Ombudsmanship Symposium under the theme
of “Culture of Seeking Legal Remedies of Youth” was organised on 21 December 2021.
