The Future of Human Rights in the 21 Century

Pointing out that they adopted the principle of “Let people live so that the state may
live” while taking the responsibility of governing the country, and that they planned,
implemented and finalized every program they prepared, every regulation and pro-
ject they implemented, under the guidance of this principle, President Mr. Erdoğan
said that in this way, they have adopted an inclusive and liberal understanding of
state that treats all citizens equally and sees differences as wealth.
Greeting all the Ombudsmen who came together on the occasion of this meeting,
which was organized with the initiatives of Chief Ombudsman Mr. Şeref Malkoç,
President H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his satisfaction with the service
they gave to humanity with the Grain Corridor, which they lead before, and this time
at this meeting, in which the Ombudsmen of Russia and Ukraine were also present,
highlighting the idea of realizing a Humanity Corridor that can be created for women,
children and people who have been separated from their families during the war.
Expressing their appreciation of the close relationship established by the Ombuds-
man Institution with other Ombudsman offices and human rights representatives
around the world, President Mr. Erdoğan concluded his speech in which he stated
that they also attach importance to the formations within the Organization of Islamic
Cooperation and the Organization of Turkish States, by saying “There is no doubt that

this conference, where human rights issues in the 21 century will be discussed, will
shed light on the future work of our institution, both in terms of its participants and
discussion topics. I believe that the valuable ideas you will share within the frame-
work of the conference will bring new horizons to us politicians as well as our insti-
tution.”
