Wishing the conference to be beneficial, President of Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip
Erdoğan started his speech by thanking those who will contribute to the conference
with their assessments. President Mr. Erdoğan congratulated the Ombudsman Insti-
tution, which has reached its 10th anniversary this year, and Chief Ombudsman Mr.
Şeref Malkoç for organizing this meaningful program.
Continuing his speech with “We are in a period when we are leaving behind the cente-
nary of our Republic and preparing to enter its new century that we call the ‘Century
of Türkiye’. In this historic process, we are working to build a new future for ourselves
in the area of human rights, just like all the other areas, in light of the past experienc-
es” President Mr. Erdoğan pointed out that human rights are at the forefront of the
issues that are most talked about, discussed and that occupy the agenda the most
in today’s world and stated that almost everyone from local politicians to the media,
from academia to international organizations talk about human rights and freedoms.
