THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE

To sum up, the Ombudsman Institution, which carries out a wide range of activities in
order to receive more qualified applications and to spread the culture of seeking legal
remedies, has contributed indisputably to reducing the workload of the judiciary thanks
to its efforts for amicable settlement and decisions. In this context, our Institution has:

➢ contributed to the good functioning of the administration with its recommendations
issued on the compliance with the principles of good administration, as well as
allowing citizens themselves to participate in the administration,

➢ contributed to resolving problems that concern a wide range of groups through
legislative amendments,

➢ not only resolved the problems of the citizens directly in individual applications, but
also clarified the legal status people experiencing a similar situation,

➢ resolved the problems of the citizens and provided legal aid and guidance to them
regarding the applications filed within the scope of information requests.

Therefore, considering the group of individuals affected by the recommendations
explained with the examples above, 150 thousand lawsuits were avoided as a result of
the decisions and activities of the Ombudsman Institution.
