Vice President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Dr. Feyzullah Tecirli and the accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Ombudsman Institution. Ombudsmen Ms. Fatma Benli Yalçın, Mr. Sadettin Kalkan, Mr. Abdullah Cengiz Makas and Mr. Özcan Yıldız, and the Secretary General Mr. Mehmet Doğan attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the risks posed by the content to which children are exposed on traditional media and digital platforms were discussed, with drawing particular attention to publications that glorify violence and gang culture.

Within the scope of the visit, discussions were held on institutional cooperation at a general level between these two Institutions, as well as on specific measures to protect children in media environments from physical, psychological, and emotional violence, to ensure their safe participation in digital platforms, and to support their overall “well-being” in every respect.

Both institutions agreed to enhance inter-institutional coordination and take concrete steps for cooperation to create non-violent, inclusive, and healthy digital spaces where children can grow safely in media environments.

The Ombudsman Institution will continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the protection, development, and well-being of all children in every setting. This strategic engagement initiated with RTÜK aims to contribute to strengthening the child rights perspective in both legislative regulations and media regulation and oversight processes.
