Mr. Veysel ŞİRİN
The Secretary General of the Ombudsman Institution Mr. Veysel Şirin, was born in 1984 in Ulubey district of Ordu, Türkiye. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Ordu. He received a bachelor's degree from Konya Selçuk University Faculty of Education in 2007, an associate degree from Anadolu University Department of Law Justice Program in 2014, and a bachelor's degree from Anadolu University Faculty of Economics Department of Public Administration in 2018.
After graduation, he worked as a teacher for about a year and then served as a manager in various Non-Governmental Organizations and as a Board Member of the Turkish Shooting and Hunting Federation.
In 2009, he started working as a civil servant at the Ministry of Interior. Between 2013 and 2016, he worked in various positions, including Chief of Cabinet and Dormitory Manager, at the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories Institution of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Between 2016 and 2017, he served as an Expert at the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.
He served as Chief of Cabinet at the Ombudsman Institution between 2017 and 2023. During his term of office, within Türkiye and in many countries, he assumed duties representing the Ombudsman Institution and took an active role in various events.
He was appointed as Secretary General of the Ombudsman Institution on 18.01.2024.
He is married and has 2 children.
