HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER (OMBUDSMAN) OF AZERBAIJAN MS. SABINA ALIYEVA AND HER DELEGATION PAID A VISIT TO THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF TÜRKİYE

The Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye, Mr. Şeref Malkoç, accepted the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva accompanied by her Delegation. The Ombudsmen Mr. Arif Dülger, Ms. Celile Özlem Tunçak, Ms. Fatma Benli Yalçın, Mr. Sadettin Kalkan, Mr. Yahya Akman and the Secretary General Mr. İbrahim Kılınç also attended the meetings.

During the meeting, Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye Mr. Şeref Malkoç and the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva explained the activities of both institutions as well as the process of handling complaints. They also discussed the prospects for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between both Institutions.

Later, Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye Mr. Şeref Malkoç and the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva held a joint press conference. During the conference, both sides stressed the friendly and fraternal relations between both countries based on deep historical roots. Expressing Türkiye’s support to Azerbaijan, Mr. Malkoç also mentioned about the “Report on Human Rights Violations Committed by the Armenian Armed Forces during the Azerbaijan-Armenia War” prepared by the Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye based on the findings obtained through on-site investigations and observations of the human rights violations resulting from the attacks launched by the Armenian Armed Forces against innocent Azerbaijani civilians between 27th September and 10th November 2020.

During her visit, Ms. Aliyeva also was accepted by other high level Turkish State officials including Mr. Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Mr. Abdulhamit Gül, Minister of Justice of Türkiye, Mr. Hakan Çavuşoğlu, the Chair of the Human Rights Inquiry Committee of the Parliament, Ms. Mihrimah Belma Satır, the Chair of the Appeals Committee of the Parliament. During these meetings, the authorities briefed about their activities in the field of human rights protection and underlined the importance of cooperation in this field.
