Chief Ombudsman Mr. Mehmet Akarca Met with Candidate District Governors

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Mehmet Akarca met with candidate district governors within the framework of the training program of the 110th District Governorship Course organized by the Ministry of Interior.

In his speech, Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca gave information about the organization and works of the Ombudsman Institution, emphasizing that it is affiliated with the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), monitoring all acts and actions of the administration within an understanding of justice based on human rights, and acting as the voice of the citizens.

Chief Ombudsman underlined that the Ombudsman Institution is the free lawyer of the people, stating, “The Ombudsman Institution acts as a bridge between public administrations and the citizens. When our citizens experience grievances, they can lodge a complaint to us before going to court, without paying any fees or charges. By preventing hundreds of thousands of files from being brought to court, we have provided fast and effective solutions to the problems of our citizens and reduced the workload of the judiciary. In this way, we aim to increase the efficiency of public services by contributing to the strengthening of social peace and justice.”

Highlighting the important role of district governors in ensuring public peace and welfare, Mr. Akarca stated, “Your sacrifices and dedicated work play a significant role in the rise of our State on strong foundations. The devotion you show while carrying out this profession strengthens the public’s trust in the State and contributes to the establishment of justice, peace, and order throughout our country. You are distinguished members of this profession who embrace this duty not only as a career but also as a way of life, making service to the public the central focus of your lives.”

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca: “Never forget that wherever you work, it is your fundamental duty to listen to the people’s problems and to find solutions for them.”

Mr. Akarca reminded the candidate governors that they will serve across Türkiye as representatives of the compassionate and fair face of the State. He stated, “The district governorship profession represents the closest face of the State to the citizens, a duty carried out tirelessly day and night to ensure the peace and welfare of society. One of the most important things you need to have in order to perform this duty in the best way is a sincere and trust based relationship with the public. Never forget that wherever you work, it is your fundamental duty to listen to the people’s problems and to find solutions for them. I sincerely believe that with the knowledge and skills you have gained through this deep-rooted education, you will touch the lives of every citizen you will serve.”

“The Key to Success in the Profession of District Governorship is an Administration Approach that Places People at the Center.”

Sharing his experiences, Mr. Akarca stated, “You will need to have knowledge across a wide spectrum from law to administration, from economics to social policies. Therefore, continuous learning and self-renewal should be indispensable elements of your career. The key to success in the profession of district governorship is an administration approach that places people at the center. The healthy relations you build with people, the solutions you find to their problems, and the contributions you provide to them will be the most concrete indicators of your success. If you adopt this approach throughout your tenure, you can create a lasting and meaningful impact both on yourself and on the region you serve.”

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Mehmet Akarca concluded his speech by wishing the candidate district governors success in their duties.
