Chief Ombudsman Mr. Mehmet Akarca, Ombudsmen Mr. Abdullah Cengiz Makas and Mr. Özcan Yıldız, and the Secretary General of the Ombudsman Institution Mr. Mehmet Doğan met with the public in Iğdır within the framework of the program “The Role of the Ombudsman Institution in Resolving Disputes between Citizens and the Administration.”

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Mehmet Akarca, Governor of Iğdır Mr. Ercan Turan, and the public attended the program “Ombudsman Meets the Public in Iğdır,” where Mr. Akarca gave a speech.

Chief Ombudsman Akarca emphasized that the Ombudsman Institution acts as the citizen’s free advocate, serving as a bridge between the administration and the people, and that citizens who experience grievances can lodge complaints to the Institution before resorting to the courts.

In his speech, Mr. Akarca stated:

“Listening to our citizens, acting as a bridge in producing fair and equitable solutions to the problems our citizens face, and making mechanisms for seeking legal remedies more understandable and more accessible for every citizen are our most fundamental and indispensable duties. I wholeheartedly believe that these meetings are of vital importance for cultivating, rooting, and strengthening the awareness and culture of seeking justice, which is indispensable to a democratic society, across our country.”

Emphasizing that complaint applications to the Institution are finalized within six months at the latest, Mr. Akarca stated, “To date, we have received 254,392 complaints, and in a very large proportion of them, we have issued significant decisions in favor of our citizens. From Iğdır alone, we received 454 complaints. The people of Iğdır sought legal remedies with us in areas such as economy, taxation, public personnel, justice, and social services. In addition, we have directly provided guidance and legal support to many of our citizens. We issue decisions on many matters that concern our citizens. Our greatest aim is to provide solutions to grievances and to help people seek legal remedies. In this regard, we have issued recommendation decisions on important issues that closely concern different segments of our society and brought these matters to the public agenda.”

Accompanied by Ombudsmen Mr. Abdullah Cengiz Makas and Mr. Özcan Yıldız, Chief Ombudsman Mr. Mehmet Akarca listened to the complaints and demands of citizens who took the floor during the “Ombudsman Meets the Public in Iğdır” program.

Within the scope of the program “Ombudsman Meets the Public in Iğdır,” Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca, Ombudsmen Mr. Abdullah Cengiz Makas and Mr. Özcan Yıldız, and the Secretary General of the Ombudsman Institution Mr. Mehmet Doğan, paid a visit to the Governor of Iğdır Mr. Ercan Turan.

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca also paid a visit to the Rector of Iğdır University Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel. Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Uğur Şimşek and Prof. Dr. Haktan Sevinç, and Secretary General Mr. Ahmet Kızılkurt also attended the meeting.

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca, Ombudsmen Mr. Makas and Mr. Yıldız, and Secretary General Mr. Doğan, paid a visit to Mayor of Iğdır Mr. Mehmet Nuri Güneş.

Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca and Ombudsman Mr. Makas paid a visit to the Head of Iğdır Bar Association Atty. Ahmet Tutulmaz.

Within the framework of the program, Chief Ombudsman Mr. Akarca and Ombudsman Mr. Makas, paid a visit to the Chairman of the Iğdır Chamber of Commerce Mr. Kamil Arslan.

Within the scope of the “Ombudsman Meets the Public in Iğdır” program, Ombudsman Mr. Özcan Yıldız and one of the experts of the Ombudsman Institution, Mr. Serhat Varol, paid a visit to the Iğdır Provincial Directorate of National Education and met with Provincial Director Mr. Aziz Gün.

Within the framework of the program, Ombudsman Mr. Yıldız paid a visit to the Iğdır Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and had a meeting with Acting Provincial Director Mr. Savaş Kaya.
