The 2023 and 2024 Annual Reports of the Ombudsman Institution were Presented to the Joint Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye
The 2023 and 2024 Annual Reports of the Ombudsman Institution were presented to the Joint Committee, which consists of the members of the Petition Committee and the Human Rights Inquiry Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT). Ombudsmen Mr. Sadettin Kalkan, Mr. Ertunç Erkan Balta, Ms. Fatma Benli Yalçın, Mr. Özcan Yıldız, and Secretary General of the Ombudsman Institution Mr. Mehmet Doğan attended the meeting.
During his speech at the meeting, Ombudsman Mr. Sadettin Kalkan emphasized that the Ombudsman Institution carries out its duties impartially and independently, examines complaints in detail, and offers guidance to administrations.
Ombudsman Mr. Kalkan also noted that the total number of complaints received by the Ombudsman Institution in 2024 was 14,762.
Chair of the Joint Committee, Ms. Sunay Karamık, praised the Committee’s initiative to invite the Deputy Ministers to a meeting, thereby enhancing the recognition of the Ombudsman Institution among the Ministries, and noted that this was a first in the Parliament.
